Responding to Higher Energy Prices

How We’re Helping Those Struggling with Bills.

As families across the country deal with higher energy prices, many of our customers right here on Long Island and the Rockaways are concerned about their own energy bills. With energy prices on the rise, we want to remind everyone that we’re here to help!

Your Electric Bill
We expect electricity prices to remain higher than usual throughout 2022, which is mostly due to higher natural gas prices. That’s because PSEG Long Island purchases electricity from a variety of sources that include natural gas-burning power plants. Like many electricity providers around the nation, we do not own power plants, but purchase electricity for you and pass along the actual cost in the Power Supply Charges section of your bill.

Monthly fluctuations in the Power Supply Charge are primarily attributed to the differences between projected and actual costs of fuel. Changes in the total amount charged on your bill are also affected by the amount of energy a customer uses and will fluctuate based on changes in their use.
